Dear BMCHS Parents and Students,

As we recover from the effects of Hurricane Irma, I wanted to update you on our return to school. Bishop Gregory Parkes has given authorization for Catholic schools in the Diocese of St. Petersburg to re-open as early as Wednesday. By the grace of God, our school was largely spared and has minimal work to be done to prepare for reopening. However, we want to give all those in the Bishop Family who may have evacuated the area time to safely return. In preparation for the re-opening of Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, members of the administrative team and I, on Monday, have toured our campus and determined the Bishop facility is safe and in good working order. As such, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School will reopen for students on Thursday, September 14, 2017.

However, since local conditions and circumstances can vary from area to area as we recover from the effects of the storm, please keep in mind it is ultimately a parent’s decision as to whether it is safe for your child to return to school on Thursday.  The safety and well-being of your family is the number one priority. Students who are unable to return to school will receive excused absences with a written note from a parent indicating the student was kept home for storm-related reasons.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to seeing our students again on Thursday morning. Thank you for your continued support as we begin to re-establish normalcy and our daily routines, and let’s continue to keep all those affected by Hurricane Irma in our prayers.

In Christ,

Mrs. Camille Jowanna
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School
