Spiritual Growth

At Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, faith development and spiritual growth are essential to the development of the whole person. There are many opportunities to experience avenues for this growth:

Prayer

3 days a week we begin the day with a communal prayer in the auditorium. Students and adults share in this ministry, reminding us all of God’s loving presence throughout the day. School-wide prayer services are also scheduled for various occasions throughout the year.

Eucharistic Celebration

The Eucharist is the summit and center of the Catholic faith. At Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, the Eucharist is celebrated throughout the school year.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to both students and staff on a regular basis.

Peer Ministry

“Faith dares the soul to go further than it can see”

William Clarke

The BMCHS Peer Ministry seeks to empower BMCHS students to live as disciples of Jesus witnessing as Christian examples to the BMCHS community. The students are challenged to grow as mature individuals, to learn more about their faith and to use their God-given gifts in the service of others. They may serve in any of the following ways:

  • Morning Prayer Leaders
  • Retreat Planning and Implementation
  • Peer Faith Formation
  • Liturgy Planning
  • Sacristan Duties
  • Music Ministry
  • Service in Liturgical Roles such as:
    • Eucharistic Ministers
    • Lectors
    • Altar Servers

Students are asked to complete a Reflection Questionnaire prior to joining the Peer Ministry Team.

Campus Ministry

The Campus Minister and the Peer Ministry Team are available to minister to the spiritual needs of the students. The school chaplain is also available one day a week.
